Lets build a tree house
Recently, we faced the tough decision of cutting down a few trees that were no longer safe to stand. It was a heart-wrenching moment, watching them come down, but it sparked an idea that set the foundation for our tree house project. Instead of opting for the ease of purchasing new wood, we decided to honor the life of these trees by reusing as much of the wood as possible for our tree house.
Reusing
The challenge was clear: how do we make use of this wood in a way that’s both practical and environmentally responsible? The first step in our journey was to ensure the wood was preserved correctly to prevent it from rotting, especially with winter approaching. We learned that removing the bark was crucial, as it not only prolongs the wood’s life but also adds to the aesthetic of the tree house, giving it a rustic, earthy feel that blends seamlessly with its surroundings.
This process of bark removal was not just about preparing the wood; it was a hands-on lesson in sustainability for us. It emphasized the importance of resourcefulness and the value of repurposing materials that would otherwise go to waste.
