Together with another family, we spent a few days at Camping Plana & Bar 66 in Slovenia — and we can confidently say it was a great choice. The campsite is surrounded by rolling green hills, offering beautiful views and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly helps you slow down.
A Perfect Base for Day Trips
One of the biggest advantages of this place is its location. Every day we set off on shorter and longer trips — we visited the Postojna Cave in Slovenia, drove to Italy and Croatia, and spent a day exploring Trieste. Everything was within a reasonable driving distance, so even with kids it never felt like too much.
There’s also a bike path right by the campsite — we brought our bikes and used it both for fun and practical rides, like cycling to the nearby bakery (about a 3–5 minute drive).
Space, Peace, and Comfort
Camping Plana is really spacious — no matter how many people are staying there, everyone can find their own quiet corner. Our pitch was large, with access to power outlets, so we had no trouble hooking up electricity. There’s also a separate area for camper vans, which makes parking easier and gives a bit more privacy.
The sanitary facilities were very clean and well-maintained — more than enough even when the campsite got busier. There’s also a shared gas kitchen, fridges, and a covered area for cooking together — simple but very functional.
A big plus for families with children is the pool — not too deep, just right for playing and cooling off after a full day of adventure.
Food and Atmosphere
The on-site restaurant, Bar 66, serves tasty, simple meals and is open until 8:00 PM. There’s also a nearby pub with local beer — we didn’t eat there, but the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The general vibe of the campsite is quite unique — relaxed and laid-back, with friendly and helpful staff.
A Few Practical Tips
It’s a good idea to carry some cash — card payments can be inconsistent. We personally didn’t have any issues, but from other guests’ reviews, it seems that sometimes there might be limitations. As for prices — they’re a bit higher than in some other places, but in our opinion, the quality more than makes up for it.
Camping Plana & Bar 66 turned out to be a fantastic spot — both for relaxing in nature and as a base for further exploration. We highly recommend it to families looking for a balance between active travel and peaceful downtime.
