Map of the Sanguszki Pass Route
Sanguszki Pass – History and Facts
The pass is named after Prince Eustachy Sanguszko (1842–1903), Marshal of the Galician Diet in 1890–1895. During his term, in 1894–1895, a road was built over the pass, shortening the journey from Kraków to Sucha and Zembrzyce.
- Stone obelisk from 1895 – stands by the road and commemorates the opening of the route over the mountains.
- Cross from 1999 – erected in honour of the Bar Confederates.
- Remains of 1914 fortifications – earthen trenches near Krowa hill, dug during the First World War against a possible Russian advance.
Trails from Sanguszki Pass
The blue trail (Brzeźnica – Kacwin) crosses the pass and leads, among other places, into the Babica range, and the Konfederacka Ścieżka path in Harbutowice runs nearby. Road 956 goes over the pass, so it is easy to reach by car from Kraków or Myślenice.
